Vinna "Lee" Brimmer has been picking up litter on her bicycle since 1970 when she lived in Milwaukee and picked up litter for the first earth day. Her efforts won her an appointment to the Mayor's Beautification Committee. Over the years, wherever she has lived she has spent countless hours picking up litter. When she moved to Ahwatukee 3 years ago to be near her daughter, she bought an adult tricycle and rides it two hours a day picking up litter along Ray Road from Ranch Circle North to 48th Street and north to Knox. Her efforts won her recognition in the Ahwatukee Foothills newspaper and ABC Channel 15 local news. Many people stop and thank her every day and she gets lots of honks on car horns and waves.
