Norma B.

Charlottesville, VA
Nominated by Susan Mills

Volunteered for:

Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA (CASPCA)

Length of Service:

80+ hours per month for 3 years

January 29, 2014

Norma is the one volunteer you can count on seeing at the CASPCA every single day. Her love for cats and desire to do something good for the community led her to our doors. Norma spends the majority of her time in the isolation room taking care of sick kitties. When asked why, she said that is where she feels she is most needed. Norma pays special attention to those kitties that come in really thin and sick. She feels a little love and special attention can be just what they need. She will spend countless hours getting them to eat and talking to them. Norma also enjoys spending time with the staff and is well loved by everyone.

In 2012, Norma clocked in 664 hours and would have done more except that she broke her foot and was out of commission for a couple of months. In 2013 she volunteered 1,294 hours and is well on her way to matching those hours in 2014, if not exceeding.

Norma's compassion and unfailing dedication to the cats at the CASPCA is incomparable and I can think of no other senior more deserving than her.
