Jean Putnam is one of the most giving and open people I know. Hers is the first voice that we hear when our church needs someone to organize or assist with events. She selflessly gives of herself in the community through organizations that our church supports including working behind the scenes at DUCO, our local foodbank, and PORT (homeless shelter support). Jean is a former elementary teacher at Dutrow Elementary and still remains actively involved in the school through her volunteer efforts where she assists the first grade team, reads to children, helps out in their library, and tutors students needing assistance. My own children have benefited from her generosity of spirit by her volunteering her time to help them strengthen their reading skills. She was instrumental in helping to get my son the extra assistance he needed at Dutrow so that he could be as successful as possible.

Jean lights up when she talks about her volunteer efforts. I listened with rapt attention as she talked about her evening at PORT when the temperatures dipped well in to the twenties and the shelter chose to remain open twenty-four hours in order to keep the homeless warm and safe. She has been integral to the operation of DUCO in cataloging and organizing the donated items for those that are trying to get back on their feet and does not hesitate to pull together the pieces that these folks need to get their lives started again. Her love for her fellow man in the exemplification of what Christ was have all of us do.

She is warm, compassionate, and loving of all people. Jean Putnam would never hesitate to assist any one in need and does not know of my intention to nominate her. The satisfaction that she receives internally from assisting her fellow brothers and sisters is all that she requires to know she has done good things. Those of us who observe her knows she deserves to be elevated for this recognition.

I hope that you will seriously consider Jean for this award. I know of no other person that deserves it more.

Is this you? If you were nominated by someone else and do not wish to take part in this contest, opt out here.
