My husband retired at 52 years, he needed something to do to keep busy, so he joined The Whittier Area Literacy Council (WALC) in Whittier California. He got so much gratitude helping somebody in need that he went from being a tutor to teaching other volunteers how to tutor their students. He was then asked to be on the Board of Directors. He worked in the capacity of Spirtual Chair for about four years. At the same time, on differant days, Frank also volunteered his time as a Catechesis for St. Gregory the Great Catholic Parish in Whittier. He would prepare the kids for confirmation. Frank received a certificate of accomplishment from Cardinal Mahoney Los Angeles Diocese.

In Whittier he was able to help a 23 year old student from Guatamala, learn enough English in 23 months that he got accepted at Rio Hondo Junior College.

He helped a 12 and a 14 year old student, who were having problems with their normal school work, catch up on their grades. One of them graduated with honors from high school two years later.

When Frank moved to Albuquerque in 2010, he volunteered his time once again and started an English as a Second language (ESL) class at St. Therese Parish with Father Vince. In 2011 he moved to St. Jude Parish and in September of 2012 he started an ESL class plus a Spanish class and a Preperation for Citizenship class. Two of his students became United States citizens in December of 2013.

Frank also volunteers his time by singing in the choir at the 12:30 Mass on Sundays.
