Carolyn has been doing volunteer work promoting and educating people and children about Maple Syrup for many years. She has dedicated many hours working with the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers Assoc. for over 30 years. Volunteering her time to make the Association better, traveling all over to teach and educate children and people about the goodness of Vermont Maple Syrup. During this time she also has volunteered to go into class rooms with cooked Maple syrup to teach children how to stir the cooked syrup and how it makes Maple Cream. Every summer she volunteers to bring a portable sugarhouse to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, a summer camp for children facing cancer. When she is there she serves them Maple treats for them to enjoy. She has also worked with the Make-a-wish foundation to help children receive their wishes. As a full time volunteer with the Vermont Maple Festival (which is a full time year round job) she has served as a Trustee for over 25 years, she has been a Chair & Co-chair position for many years and is now sharing the responsibility as co-chairs of the Festival . She has brought many new and exciting changes to the festival - recognizing the need for wheel chair accessibility, recognizing many people for their years of service to the Industry. Carolyn was recognized in 2010 by the Vermont State Maple Association as Maple Person of the year. She also has been a Trustee of the Vermont Building for The Eastern States Exposition - West Springfield MA for 20+ years. Carolyn was a critical part of rejuvenating the Franklin County Sugar Makers Association 23 years ago and now it is a thriving organization - There is a mobile sugar house that serves Maple at the Vermont Dairy Days and a Sugar House on site at the County Field days. She has been a mentor to many, a friend to all and the joy of giving is truly the biggest part of her life.
