Betty Schwartz moved into Mercy Apartments in 2008. Mercy Apartments is a 40-unit building for persons aged 62 or over, or persons with mobility impairments.

Ever since she first moved into the building, she has made a big impact by volunteering her time and personality. She began raising money right away to benefit the residents. Betty puts on bake sales, garage sales, picnics and parties. In her spare time, she hosts coffee hours in the community room for residents who want to come down and socialize.

The money that she raises goes toward putting on more dinners and parties at a low cost to the residents. The money is also used to purchase flowers for resident who are in the hospital or who have suffered a loss in their family.

Betty Schwartz deserves recognition for her countless hours donated to making Mercy Apartments not just a home, but a family.
