Steve B.

Nominated by Gary Witt

Volunteered for:

Monument Terrace Veterans

Length of Service:

30 hours per month for 25 years

February 4, 2014

Steve is totally dedicated to helping his fellow man, especially Veterans.
He spends countless hours in support of Veteran's causes. You'll find him every Friday form 12 noon till 1pm at Monument Terrace with a group of Veterans from all branches of service and from different wars! He leads these men that have banded together for nearly 13 years with a common cause to support our troops in conflicts abroad. He was recently selected to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, DC in May of 2014. (A great honor) Steve has run in many Iron Man and Marathons, usually carrying the US Flag as he runs ! He was awarded the Purple Heart and a whole chest full of ribbons for Combat in Vietnam.
I have worked together with Steve and I can see his desire to help his fellow Veteran as we installed two Purple Heart a Monuments in the Lynchburg area, built a 100' Handicap Ramp, bought furniture and helped a homeless veteran find a home, donated wheeled walker to WW2 Veteran, and hundreds of other projects over the years that I have known him. Steve is now working on a project to bring the Lima "Eyes of Freedom" Memorial to Lynchburg and is working on repairing the Broken Doughboy Bayonet at Monument Terrace!
Steve truly deserves this award !!! Please vote for him!
