To recognize seniors for the impact they make in their communities by volunteering their time and talents, Home Instead Inc., franchisor of the Home Instead Senior Care® network, conducts an annual contest search for the most outstanding senior volunteer in the U.S.

In addition to our network’s mission of helping seniors to stay healthy and active as they age, which many do through volunteering, we want to encourage a positive outlook on aging. And what better way to do so than by inviting everyone in the country to personally recognize seniors who set an inspiring example for people of all ages?

Senior volunteers nominated for the Salute to Senior Service℠ contest not only receive public recognition and appreciation of their dedicated community service, but they are also eligible for a chance to win up to $5,500 for their favorite volunteer organization.

How the Contest Works

To nominate a senior you know,

1. Fill out the form on the Enter Now tab between February 1 and March 31, 2013.

   OR

2. Download the printable mail-in entry form.

Nominations will be accepted February 1 through March 31, 2013. Sign up to be notified when the contest begins.

Your nominee will join the ranks of other highly passionate and dedicated senior volunteers whose stories appear on the View Entries tab.

Adding Comments

Friends, family and others who view your entry can add a comment to provide additional details, praise and encouragement. These comments help expand the story, thereby increasing its appeal to voters and judges.

Voting

During the designated voting period (see contest schedule on the right-hand side of the page), participants can vote up to once per day for the senior volunteer they deem most outstanding.

How Winners Are Determined

The nominee in each state who attains the most votes becomes a State Winner. A panel of judges then evaluates the State Winners to determine the National Grand Prize Winner.

Contest Reminders

All nominees and nominators will receive contest email reminders for notification of important next steps and contest results.
